Last night Boise State used my all time favorite play against Oklahoma to win the game on a two-point conversion: The statue of liberty play. Basically -
Zabransky [the Boise State QB] faked a screen pass to Legedu Naanee on his right, then hid the ball behind his back with his left hand. Johnson never moved, staying frozen until the fake was properly sold. Johnson then broke left against the grain of play, grabbed the ball from behind Zabransky’s back and strolled untouched around the left side into the end zone. The final 2 yards of his 101-yard night will forever be remembered in Boise history.
Note that noone ever runs this plays, because as cool as it sounds it basically never works and always ends in a huge loss for the offense. So to even run it shows a lot of audacity - but to run it when you're down one point as a two point conversion play = crazyness. Also, afterwards, on national television, Johnson (the Boise State tailback) proposed to his girlfriend, who was a cheerleader.
