2010 OGI Callbacks Sticky
You guys know the drill: if you got a callback, post it in the comments. This site may be in transition, but we're not ignoring the basics. Post the firm, location, and status (callback received / rejected). Thanks.

Heard someone got Latham DC. Not sure if that's true.
Latham NY
ITT: Law review grade ons and other stellar candidates make everyone else feel like shit even though most firms do multiple rounds of callbacks and so no news doesn't mean anything bad at all.

6:21, who was your interviewer?
Really? Wiley Rein? I thought I did well on that one... ha
Any Cali yet? Just an FYI: Gibson had a dinner at Fleurie for some people, not sure if that means you are out if you didn't go though. Are CBs really rolling?
Gibson dinner wasn't for all offices, they said CBs in a week for secondary markets
Gibson dinner didn't give callbacks
There were definitely secondary market people at the Gibson dinner. At least LA and TX. It was by no means all DC.
Gibson dinner had people for their Denver office and some other small ones.
If you were not at the gibson dinner you are not getting a callback. if you were at the gibson dinner, you might be getting a callback.
Anyone at the Gibson dinner will get a CB.
Don't think that's true. There were prolly 40 at the dinner. I'd be surprised if everyone did. Food was fantastic though, not a bad consolation prize.

Anyone hear from LA offices? OMM, Mofo, HL? Anyone not law review get NY callbacks at Davis Polk, WH? Dechert Philly? Anything Chicago?

Gibson callback, not DC. Was at dinner.
(CB wasn't at dinner, I was. CB was 8/14)
boo, i wish their dc office would call me back right now.
IRS called me back, which is odd considering their interviews aren't til the 19th. He said something about an audit and started cackling. Fuck.
Anyone hear from WilmerHale DC?
O'Melveny (LA and Century City), Sheppard Mullin (downtown and Century City), Munger, Sidley Austin, Irell, Sullivan & Cromwell and Katten Muchin Rosenman have all begun sending callbacks.
^ Begun? Did they communicate by e-mail or phone? Was it over the weekend?
^ O'Melveny on Tuesday, rest Weds-Thurs. All by phone. Except Sheppard downtown. I think that one was by email.
^ I'm assuming you applied to these places outside of OGI?
^2nd Assumption: You don't go to UVA
rejection from Debevoise in the mail.
I thought the callbacks would start rolling in today

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Theory: 3.6+ students are eating up all the callbacks, especially in DC, while everyone else is getting screwed.
Doubt it. Most of the people I know who made LR have 3-4 DC callbacks. I think DC is just being slow.
All I'm saying is I know plenty of 3.6 plussers with more than 5, and practically none under that GPA with more than 2 or 3. Hopefully I'm wrong.
DC callbacks? I know a few people with 5+ callbacks total, but I know of no one with 5+ callbacks in DC.
I know several people with 5 or more DC callbacks.
@ 6:42
that isn't exactly a new theory
the top of the class gets most of the callbacks while the rest battle for scraps
6:17 - grades?
Reed Smith DC
10 CBs so far. GPA is >3.5
>LR minimum; 6 CB split between NYC & DC. DC has been far slower than NYC.
8:39, what market(s)?
8:39 here. Lots of different markets (east/west coasts, TX, midwest, etc.). Focused on a specific practice area which I have a shitload of experience in.
Any Stradling or Hollingsworth?
17 callbacks so far
32 callbacks so far. A few firms have called me back to the offices I interviewed with as well as some of their other branches. The idea isn't that I'm applying or interviewing for those extra offices, it's more to parade me around and try to give as many of their offices as possible an opportunity to interact with and learn from me.
It's a lot of extra time from my busy law review schedule (have I mentioned how busy I am with law review? Because it is keeping me very busy), but I like to give back to the legal community in any way I can. Whether it's by by posting on this thread within 20 seconds of receiving a callback to announce it to the world, or scheduling my callbacks loudly in scott commons, or rushing out of the library on my phone several times per day when calls come in - I just feel that sharing my experience with the entire community is the most productive usage of my time.

Cooley sent me a very short rejection letter
yer mom goes to Cooley
9:11 -- Hollingsworth has made at least one callback
word to 9:24, bro
@924 - I don't get it... you read this blog to find out about callbacks, but then you bitch about people getting callbacks posting callbacks. You bitch about people DOING WORK in the library leave the library to answer the phone. Would you prefer that people just answer their phone in the library?
Should people loudly schedule callbacks in Scott Commons? No, but, its not like there are many options when you're stuck in the school all day, its either 100+ degrees outside or raining, and every room in the lawschool is reserved for an interview.
So, the point of this is: Get over yourself. If you don't want to read about people getting callbacks, THEN DON'T READ THE F'ING CALLBACK THREAD.

get mad about it.
Hollingsworth DC callback came by e-mail on Wed. night
@9:24 + 11:58: Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight!
For realsies. Where are we allowed to take calls? I suppose we should just reject our callbacks out of respect for our fellow classmates.
Or maybe if you had spent a little more time in the library and a little less time Feb-clubbing you would be a bit less stressed-out right now. I don't know your situation personally, but I do know that the class of 2012 was well aware of the state of the economy when they started law school. The people I know who have good grades worked hard for them and had to make social sacrifices. A lot of people I know weren't willing to do that. Of course, it comes harder to some, so work ethic doesn't account for everything.
It is unfortunate that some people are struggling, even at a school as good as UVA. But everyone in the class of 2012 knew (or should have known) exactly what they were getting into.
I'm generally in the camp of 11:58 but 8:35 takes it too far and finds great success in sounding douchey. Guess what, bub? Plenty of people who made "social sacrifices" ended up with bad grades and some people who went to Feb Club ended up on law review. That's just how it is. Don't pretend you're somehow morally superior or smarter than anyone else at this school, whatever your grades are -- we're all smart and deserve good jobs. And this is coming from someone with pretty decent grades.
I hope everyone keeps posting their callbacks. It relieves my anxiety a lot to know I'm still in the running at some firms, or to know I'm totally out at others.
Cooley DC
Nominating 8:35 for Douche of the Year. Anyone willing to second?
I'll be the third to call 8:#5 a giant douchebag.
Maybe if we all spent more time in the library we'd all have straight A's!
*8:35
damn Shift key
Anyone heard anything about Arnold and Porter DC?
I don't think Arnold & Porter (DC) has done callbacks yet. I know six people on law review who haven't heard anything from them.
21 callbacks
11:58 here... @835 - thanks for being a douche and making LR people look like dicks. We're very fortunate for the things that we have received and plenty of other people have worked as harder or harder than we have.
22 callbacks
"We're very fortunate for the things that we have received"
with that comment, 11:09/11:58 is trying to steal 8:35's title. who says stuff like that?
uva law = collegiality.
Cleary DC
Wow 1125, I guess that people just can't win can they? So, how about this, how about we all just stop posting our callbacks? Would that make you happy?
Several people just got email dings from Cleary DC.
email CB from Boies Schiller DC
after reading these comments, i've decided not to apply to UVA law school next year

i assure you that these types of conversations are going on at every other law school in the country. in fact, it's probably much worse at most of them.
if you can't handle this mild "controversy" you might want to reconsider going to law school, period.
Ding nixon peabody via email

What office was the Nixon Peabody ding from?
