Perhaps a fair compromise would be for the grad committee to offer two packages:

1. A no frills, cap, gown but no party plan.

2. The full party package. All those golf tournaments and other parties + cap and gown.

Seems more fair to me. Prevents those of us with no desire to attend these events from having to pay for others' social calendar.

I heard that last year the graduation committee did not require 3Ls to pay dues to receive their cap and gown but that this year they decided to do so to help defray the cost of repairing one grad committee member's BMW 7 Series which is currently sitting underneath Mt. Chipotle with a puppy (link below) and possibly also a small child trapped inside.
